Ep. 002 : What to Do If Someone You Care About Is Suicidal

How can you help if someone you care about is suicidal? According to the Center for Disease Control in 2016, 91.4% of people who died by suicide told someone else of their plans. Maybe you’re the person they’re going to tell. Don’t reassure yourself that someone who talks casually about suicide won’t act on those thoughts. Just because you know someone well, doesn’t mean they can’t be suicidal.

It can be hard to ask someone if they’re suicidal, but it can also be lifesaving. It’s a myth that asking people about suicidal thoughts prompts them to take their life. You can make a difference. There are resources available 24/7 to guide you in helping your loved one.
